Thomas the Tank Engine
Thomas is the central character in HIT Entertainment's Thomas & Friends. He stars in his own line of toys, books and videos—even a feature film! The stories were created in the 1940's by the Reverend W. Awdry to entertain his son, Christopher, while he was sick with the measles. (Learn more about Thomas the Train history.)
Thomas is a cheeky little blue engine who wears #1 on his side. Joining him in his adventures on the Island of Sodor are his engine friends, including cheerful Percy, moody James and the proud but boastful Gordon. You can see pictures and read all about the Island of Sodor friends in our Thomas & Friends Character Guide. About the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway
Learning Curve's Thomas the Tank Engine Wooden Railway brings the beloved stories magically to life. Designed for children ages 2 to 5, the railway consists of award-winning vehicles, interactive destinations, bridges, tunnels, track and characters made of the finest quality materials.
The wooden railway offers little engineers a rich world to discover and explore as they recreate their favorite adventures and invent new ones, too. Through these adventures, your child will learn important lessons about the value of friendship, fair play and teamwork.
More than just a toy...
The Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway is a comprehensive, open-ended play system. This means that the products are designed to "grow" with children; providing them with opportunities to develop skills in many developmental areas. Playing with the railway will help develop physical, social and cognitive skills, as well as a sense of accomplishment. Your child will be inspired to believe that little people—like little engines—can do big things!
