Hiro is an old Japanese tender engine. Hiro was the first steam engine on the Island of Sodor, and was nicknamed "The Master of the Rails." He was lost for years, however, stowed out of sight on an overgrown branch line. Thomas discovered him by accident after his brakes failed. He decided to try and help Hiro himself, but wouldn't tell Sir Topham Hatt for fear Hiro would be scrapped. After Hiro was mended, he was allowed a trip back to his homeland.
Hiro is part of the magical world of Thomas & Friends. The engines all work and play together on the Island of Sodor. While they are doing their very useful work, they learn important lessons about friendship and getting along. Many of the characters are available to purchase as part of different toy brands, including the timeless Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Series. You can purchase Thomas and many of his engine friends, as well as wooden track, buildings, destinations and sets from the simple oval to the Deluxe Tidmouth Sheds set. Many engines are available on a limited basis and are retired, so check ebay or other online auction sites for your favorites if you can't find them here or in a store near you.
